Pouty Gunman In Parking Deck Shooting Nabbed In Arlington: Authorities

Authorities in Arlington say they've arrested one of two suspects in an argument that escalated to a shooting inside of a parking garage last week.

Arlington's Esnayder Perla Alvarenga, 20, and the unidentified suspect got into a dispute with two victims in a parking garage at 4200 block of S. Four Mile Run Drive, around 11:25 p.m. Thursday, April 13, county police said.

As the argument heated up, Alvarenga pulled out a gun while the other suspect physically assaulted one of the victims, police said. As the victims drove off, Alvarenga shot the gun, striking and damaging the vehicle, police said.

No injuries were reported.

Alvarenga was later identified as a suspect and warrants for his arrest were obtained. He was arrested without incident on the evening of April 14 in the 2700 block of S. Fern Street. During a search incident to arrest, officers recovered a loaded firearm from him, police said.

He was charged with Attempted Malicious Wounding (x2), Malicious Shooting at a Vehicle, Use of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Reckless Handling of a Firearm, and Brandishing a Firearm. He is being held without bond in the Arlington County Detention Facility.
